These polishing pads are designed to work with our color-coded 3M™ Perfect-It™ System of polishes and compounds. The pad removes imperfections left by foam pads or wool bonnets when the finest finish is needed. Finishing results depend on the combination of coating type, polish and tools used. Our foam pads are specially designed to match the specific chemistry of paints and clear coats. Foam pads are typically less aggressive and produce a finer finish than wool bonnets. Speeds of 1200 to 2000 RPM remove fine scratches, compound imperfections and surface damage. Foam pads work with conventional polishers, rotary and random orbital tools. The 3M™ Perfect-It™ System is designed to produce showroom finishes with excellent color depth and gloss. Our system uses a progressive series of abrasives, compound pads and polishing pads, as well as proprietary polishes, at each stage of the repair. The steps are: sanding, scuffing, compound application, machine polishing and blemish removal if necessary on dark colors. The labor and steps required for paint repair depend on the severity of the blemish.
