Sika® Primer-290 DC
Sika® Primer-290 DC is a solvent-based, colorless to slightly yellow primer that reacts with moisture and forms a thin layer. This layer acts as a link between substrates and adhesives. Sika® Primer-290 DC is specifically formulated for the treatment of wooden planks prior to caulking with Sikaflex®-290 DC or bonding with Sikaflex®-298.
Jobs
Sika® Primer-290 DC is used to improve adhesion on teak, mahogany, Oregon pine and polyester based GRP. Consult the manufacturer and perform tests on original substrates before using Sika® Primer-290 DC on materials subject to stress cracking. This product is suitable for experienced professional users only. Tests with actual substrates must be performed to ensure adhesion and material compatibility.Packaging

IMPORTANT NOTES
Sika® Primer-290 DC is a moisture reactive system. In order to maintain the quality of the product it is important to reseal the container with the plastic inner liner immediately after use. Once the surface pre-treatment operation is completed, the cap must be screwed on.
Dispose of the product approximately one month after opening if used frequently or after two months if used rarely.
The 30ml packs are for single application only.
If you notice gelling, separation, or a significant increase in viscosity, discard the primer immediately.
Never dilute or mix this product with other substances.
If used on transparent or translucent substrates such as plastic, etc., adequate UV protection is required.
Application
METHOD OF APPLICATION
Surfaces must be clean, dry and free from grease, oil, dust and contaminants.
Adhesion to substrates can be improved by adding and/or combining pre-treatment processes such as abrasion and cleaning.
Application
Apply a thin but covering coat of Sika® Primer-290 DC with a clean, dry brush.
Make sure the teak is completely covered with primer but avoid excess material.
Primed surfaces must be allowed to dry for at least 60 minutes before sealing or bonding with Sikaflex® products.
In case of spray application, contact the Technical Department of Sika Industry.
The ideal application and surface temperature is between 15°C and 25°C.
Sika® Primer-290 DC must be applied only once. Care must be taken to ensure that this single application gives sufficient coverage. Consumption and method of application depend on the specific nature of the substrates. Reseal container tightly immediately after each use.
For advice on how to properly select and set up spray equipment, contact the Sika Industry System Engineering Department.
